BUMP - How to get sound previews on icons (from may 2007)

I'm sorry...stuff like this is easy and the question went unanswered for over a year. Man...I gotta wonder about that.
Preview sound icons on the desktop

The way I do it is open konqueror, go to your dropdowns at the top and click on "view". Navigate down to "previews" and then down to "sound files" and click it. Couple of things. This only sets it to preview sound files by mouseover in your user account. You have to duplicate this in your root account. Now, for reasons I don't understand, in some distros, this doesn't always activate the sound files on the Desktop to work. They will work in the Desktop folder in Konqueror but not on the Desktop proper. Go figure.
Two reasons we are here

Discover why we exist

Then Do it

Don't dally exploring the first...someone may depend greatly on you accomplishing the second.
