Kmail configuration

newbie to linux - installed suse 9.2 - use uklinux as ISP - when i start kmail i immediately get ' cannot connect to host linton.uklinux.net ' - however if i carry on and set up a message it is sent but i cannot access my inbox - i get a repeat of the above message. I dont quite follow how i can send but not receive email. Any help would be much appreciated.

RE: Kmail configuration

Sending and receiving mail are very different. For sending, you use you providers smtp-server. For receiving, you proberly use the providers pop3-server. That you can send only means that you setup'ed your smtp-server correctly. To check the settings of the pop3-server server, click on Setup KMail -> Accounts -> (select your account) -> Edit.

There are other possible reasons for this, for example a firewall which blocks port 110 (in case your provider uses pop3).

RE: Kmail configuration

Thanks for replying - i did so much blundering around trying to configure kmail that i decided to reinstall - knowledge gained whilst i trashed linux the first time around means that everything now works like it should - onwards and upwards as they say
