Are there Libs in RPMs

G'Day, I m having trouble finding a Library for KDE Base or a KDE package I want to install or Update ,its "kdelibcommon" and I cant find it anywhere its not with my Mandrake10.1 repositories or can I find it anywhere else, So my question is where can I find this lib ,and I was hoping It was posible to get kde software in RPMs as I still have problems installing Tarballs,. I need this lib apparently its a dependency 4 a KDE package I want to install, Thanks

RE: Are there Libs in RPMs

Is that package made for Mandrake or other distribution (the one with dependency)?

Sorry to take so long to reply, I Wanted to install a KDE package I think it was KDE Base or Core ( Im using a different PC at moment) from Urpmi repository and it would not install it because it said it needed "kdelibcommon" I was supprised it wasn't there , anyway I was hoping there might be RPMs for KDE Libs I could install 4 Mandrake10.1 from the KDE web site somewhere ,I have Synaptic installed so maybe I coulkd find a KDE repo 4 it that might have it to , I'm still a bit confused about how linux works ect but am keen to learn ,Thanks Jason..

Wasn't that "kdelibs-common"?

Mixing RPM packages from different distributions may lead to troubles. Although they share the same format, each distribution has it's own naming scheme and slighly different directory tree.

You should only install RPMs that are made especially for your distribution, unless you know what you are doing.

Yes. There is a kdelibs-common package in Mandrake pools. urpmi kdelibs-common should do the job. If your urpmi can't find it, then maybe you have it misconfigured. You can search for the package using http://rpm.pbone.net or www.rpmfind.net
