keep navigation panel hidden?

Hello, I love KDE, but lately I've begun to be bugged by the navigation panel, which seems useless for my purposes. I know f9 hides it, but I can't figure out how to make it stay hidden each time I open up a new instance.

Thanks,
-BHolley

Just hide it with F9 and then save the view profile:
Settings -> Save view profile "xxx"
(xxx is the name of the current profile)
