Drive applications with joystick

Hi,
I've got my PC near the place I use to study. I would like to change tracks and volume to my favourite music player (amarok is the best, IMHO) with my joystick, like a wire-remote control.
I do not know hot to map joystick's movement, while I've successfully mapped my multimedia keys.
Any tip, hint or trick?!?
