Kate crashing

I trolled this group and couldn't find any resolution for this.
Kate locks up at random. When I say lockup I mean hard lockup, requiring full system reboot. On top of that I loose all of my work when this happens.
If anyone knows of a more reliable, highly functional text editor or any solutions I would appreciate it.
I use it for light coding and full document text review for school. I really need something that won't dump all my work.
Also, how would I go about tracing this when the system locks up? Does it still get logged even though I have to reboot?
Thank you,
Dan

really?

Nothing can require a full system reboot, kill the app, or kill X and log back in.

If you have problems with kate, i suggest that you file a bug over at http://bugs.kde.org

Include as much information as possible, if you can't have a backtrade, attach your kate configuration files and the document causing the grief.
