konqueror help

hey im having a weird problem with konqueror, using it as a web browser is fine but when used as a file manager it will not open folders, i checked the properties for folders and there is nothing in the "open with" list.iv tryed inputting what was in a friends "open with" list down to the very letter but then more errors appeared,has anyone had this before and if so what did you do to fix it?thanks

Check if you have a file directory.desktop in
.kde/share/mimelnk/inode
and if yes, remove it.

It overrides the gobal setting file for the MIME type inode/directory
