konqueror renaming files on its own

Is there a way i can turn off the feature that renames files stored on removable media? What it does is when i mount a cd and go to the directory it renames the file with like the first four original letters followed by an underscore and then some numbers.

You are sure that your CD is containing long file names and not file names stored under 8 + 3 convetion? (like good old DOS)

If you mount manually with fs type vfat, do you have the same probs? Please open a konsole and type in mount (as root!). This will show you all mounted devices incl. fs type.

May be, you are using fs type msdos or umsdos.
