File Association Problems -- Using konqueror in kde 3.2.2

I'm having problems with file associations after making a change from within konqueror.
I clicked a text file from within konqueror which opened the file in kwrite. I'm more of a Vim fan so I 'right-clicked' the text file, chose the 'Open With' dialog and selected KVim. I also selected 'Remember application association for this type of file' so it would use KVim to open all text files in the future. Now, whenever I select any files and/or directories from within konqueror it attempts to open the file/directory with KVim. Strange.
I went through every option in Control Center --> KDE Components --> File Associations, however, I was unable to find the correct file association to fix the problem.
I'm confused and its an annoying problem.

TIA

What distribution are you using? A lot of people (including me) are experiencing various kinds of problems related to file associations and menu administration in Mandrake 10. It seems that these problems are not due to KDE, but to some supportive scripts Mandrake uses. Very common symptom is custom file associations disappearing after reboot.

Discussion about this is going on in various Mandrake forums on the net. By now, there is no solution that I know of.
