Print from KDE to Windows network printer

Hello:

I am a common desktop user running a Debian Sid system with KDE 3.2.2 installed as default desktop environment.

My machine is part of a local network. One of the machines on this network runs Windows XP and has a printer attached to it (LPT1) that is shared to all on the network. I would also like to print to it from my linux box. :)

I tried practically all possible ways to add a printer through the Control Panel. The only inactive option on the list of CUPS printers is SMB (Windows) - meaning it is grey and I cannot select it... Perhaps this is the right way to go, but I cannot. Any ideas?

Do you got smbclient installed?

mmmmmm, nope

Nope, I don't. Do i need to? I can freely browse the local network via Konqi, by just entering smb:/// at the address bar... So I do see the network, exchange freely files but cannot add this printer.

If you believe I should install smbclient, I will. :)
