Konqueror help for novice

Hi:

I am running konqueror on redhat 9. I just changed to KDE from Gnome,
because I want to use konqueror for professional scientific talks. It
seems to be working well for that. However, I am having problems with
it as a filemanager. It seems to start out fine, but after a while it
stops undating the file list in the current drectory. Even if I leave
the directory and come back, the files are not updated. If I do some
action under konqueror to create a new file, then it works.

Here are the details of my install:

hal@marvin ~/rpm] konqueror -v
Qt: 3.1.1
KDE: 3.1-10 Red Hat
Konqueror: 3.1-12 Red Hat

I would appreicate any help. Thanks!

Well, normally it should auto-refresh your window, so I suggest re-installing Konqueror. Or maybe auto-refresh is not featured in that version of Konqueror, so you could also install a newer version.

Sometimes I have the same problem though, when I'm gone a long time, it no longer auto-refreshes, but it only happens infrequently and as such doesn't bother me, as I can simply press F5 to refresh.
