how to get back menu entries

Hi,

I had some problems a while back which led me to delete my ~/.kde folder (the problems persist regardless).
I'm looking for a way to restore the entries, particularly the configuration tools. I was thinking of creating a new user a/c and copying the .kde folder from there to my own a/c but I'd lose some other kde configurations if I did that. I'd like to copy just the information containing the menu entries.
I'd take the time needed to add them manually, but Kmenuedit completely ignores any changes made to it - items added, icons change etc. once I save and exit.
So, does anyone know a list of files I'd ned to copy from the new a/c if I made it, or else a better way to do this?

Thanks,
P
