Nautilus drawing background

I'm having strange problem. I have Gnome and KDE installed but sometimes when I'm running KDE suddenly Gnome background flashes in the desktop. Then after some waiting it returns back to normal KDE background. Same thing happens when I quit KDE: I can see Gnome wallpaper and icons flash for a couple of seconds.

* I'm not using GDM or KDM, I start KDE manually.
* KDE version is 3.2.1
* Gnome is 2.4.2
* Distro is Gentoo
* I'm sometimes running GTK applications

maybe nautilus was drawing the desktop background? were you using it when you saw this flashing background?

I checked and it seems that there is nautilus all the time running background but I don't understand why? It seems that Nautilus somehow automatically starts. May it be because using of Gnome programs?

i don't know. maybe you saved your session after using nautilus with drawing your backround turned on? turn this off in gnome configuration editor and save your session without nautilus running.
