line breaks inserted automatically when using Kate

I use Kate 2.0 (with KDE 3.0.3-8.3 Red Hat) as my main editor, I like it alot, but one
small problem bothers me. Kate seems to produce automatic line breaks before words that
wrap.

Say I have some text:
"their own Rankine-Hugoniot equation, whether the shock heating process produces".

I decide to insert a phrase before the word "whether":
"on the other hand I want to know"

The result is this:

"their own Rankine-Hugoniot equation, on the other hand I want to know whether the shock
heating

process

produces"

"heating" wraps as you would expect, however each word after "heating" now has 2 linebreaks in front of it. I have to delete the linebreaks manually.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

Greg
