KDE 3.1.95 (KDE 3.2 RC1)

Can anyone using SuSE 8.1 tell me if KDE 3.1.95 is working properly? My system is running pretty good with 3.1.5, and I am reluctant to attempt the latest KDE. I have noticed, at the SuSE ftp, that some packages are not compiling, such as kdenetworks, kdegraphics, and others. In fact, all of the versions seem to have problems aside from 9.0. Does this comprimise the stability and perfomance of KDE?

I am having the same problems here although I'll be trying to compile it again using konstruct http://developer.kde.org/build/konstruct/

So what.
How do you install it. The packages from SuSE?
They have there problems also. just like the 3.1.4 for suse 8.2
For the one with Suse 9.0 the starter of this topic is using suse 8.1
and asked info for his version.

Sorry Ricky but the problem is with SuSE anyway. There KDE version
is customized the suse way. Using a update from KDE with konstruct
will break the SuSE help. Updating from SuSE will break KDE in general.
The only way is look for a distribution with KDE 3.2?

There is some interesting info here regarding KDE 3.2 and SuSE. :) Does anybody know if I applied the latest RPM's, which is the full release, would they work or would they damage my current KDE 3.1.5 version? Because of the five packages that are FAILED; kdeaddons, kdebindings (partial), kdegraphics, kdenetworks, and kdemultimedia, I am wanting to know if the 3.1.5 packages would work properly in place of the ones that have FAILED. I would just try it, but I need my sytem running without to many errors. :)

I suppose that 8.1 is the next version on the chopping block when it comes to KDE upgrades. I see at the SuSE site that 8.0 is not supported. :( I guess this is why people go with distros such as Slackware and Debian.

KDE 3.2, KDE 3.2, where art thou complete KDE 3.2 ?

Well I took the plunge and applied the KDE 3.2. I basically had to FORCE, which I am really not fond of, the installation. Everything works aside from QtFprot, even after recompiling. Another interesting factor is, since the kdegraphics packages are not available yet my camera does not work with konqueror, but it does work with the newest digikam (Nice program). Other methods still allow access, so I am not terribly worried about it.
I am very impressed with the speed of the window loading and the overall appearance of KDE 3.2. :) I am looking forward to when the other packages are complete and my system is running without any issues, or very few.
Way to go KDE group. :) This was a big improvement over the 3.1.4 version. :D
