AOpen CD-ROM drive incompatible with Kscd volume slider

I have discovered that the volume slider in the Kscd 1.3.2 app does nothing when the
AOpen CD-936E/AKW drive is used. This is because the subroutine in Kscd that is
responsible for the volume slider does not control the volume of CD-ROM via the sound card
as I originally assumed; instead, it controls the volume of the analogue output of the
CD-ROM directly.

As proof of this phenomenon, the two systems that I built with this CD-ROM model had the
same problem. When I replaced the CD-ROM in one of these systems, I was suddenly able to
control its volume using the Kscd volume slider. It appears that this model is incapable of
having its volume controlled directly; it was engineered that way.

I am never buying AOpen again!
