mcoputils.cc:tokenize assertion error line 269

Hi, I'm new with Linux system, but I managed to get it installed after several weeks of trial and error efforts, including KDE-3.1.3. My PC is Pentium4 & i845G chipset with AC97 ALC650 sound & ethernet pro 100 on-board. All hardware seems to work just fine but the sound never works. Everytime I start KDE, I get this fatal error message (I think it comes from the Arts source)

mcoputils.cc: line 269 (static bool Arts::MCOPUtils::tokenize(const std::string&, std::string&, std::vector<std::string, std::allocator<std::string> >&)): assertion failed: (c != '\n')

Is there anyone could help me, please? I have recompiled several times the Arts & KDEbase sources with gcc-3.3, but that message keep showing everytime KDE starts.
