KDE tooltip color change

Ok, I didn't find a 'support' section on this forum so here goes:

What I want to do is change the color of the background and text of the tooltips in KDE. When I am in Control Center, hovering over menu items or a KDE program such as K3B the tooltip is exactly how I want it to be However when I'm in a non-KDE program the tooltip does not show up properly. Programs such as Firefox, Rhythmbox, etc they do not. The current colors are:

KDE Programs: Light Yellow background with Black letters
Non-KDE Programs: Light Yellow background with White letters

This makes it impossible to read (unless you adjust the monitor or something else). Is there a way to custom set these colors? I tried changing the theme and color scheme but it did not change.

Thanks!

(EDIT) - just wanted to say I notice the checkbox ' apply colors to non-kde applications' but i DO want to have this checked as I enjoy using the colors (minus the tooltip problem)
