I'm currently using KDE 3.2.1 and I have a minor usability gripe that I wanted to share with the community. When I am navigating a menu using the keyboard (e.g. I type Alt+B to begin navigating the Bookmarks menu in Konqueror) options are automatically highlighted and submenus expanded based upon the position of the mouse (without moving the mouse). In my experience with other applications (and previous major versions of KDE), the mouse doesn't start interfacing with the menu until you actually move the cursor. This allows the user to navigate the menu with the keyboard. In the Konqueror bookmarks menu, at least, this (old behavior) is particularly nice because in addition to using the arrow keys I can type letters to select entries or submenus based on their name. Now, the mouse interferes with that behavior (if and only if the mouse happens to be "over" the screen position of the menu, which is annoying to have to determine before using a menu). This seems to happen across the board in modern KDE apps (e.g. in the Konsole Edit menu when trying to copy and paste using only the keyboard). Is there any way that I can turn this "auto-mouse-activation" behavior off?
Does my description make sense, or should I be more pedantic?
