! KDE 3.1 - No Sound?!?!

:!: Hi I am really new to linux and KDE but I have KDE 3.1 on my system and I can't play CD's or get any sound. I believe it has autodetected the correct card in my laptop as it did with other things but there is no sound but the CD is playing. Same with video clips. When I test the alarm in KDE it creates a beep but this is probably the system beep?

Please help me please! :!:

try launching "aumix" and setting up the volume, and unmuting it - my installation muted the sound for some reason on install... :o
