Switching desktops with the mouse wheel?

Is this somehow possible with KDE 3.1.x out of the box or is there perhaps somewhere an addon for this?

It certainly should be possible out of the box. You need to place the cursor over the desktop switcher and then move the scroll button.

Tnx, but I already knew about this possibility ;-)
I mean a solution somehow like it's implemented in fluxbox where you put your mouse over any region of the desktop :-)

You can change the desktop with the mouse wheel by rotating the wheel over the pager.

It's a hidden feature in KDE 3.1 (in KDE 3.2 it has an GUI option). Add "[Mouse Buttons] WheelSwitchesWorkspace=true" to your kdesktoprc.
