Icons only for root?

Icons only for root?

I compiled and installed KDE manually (just aRTS, kdelibs, and kdebase). When I login as a normal user, I get no icons either for the desktop or within Konqueror. When I login as root, I get icons.

What's wrong?

Hi,
try the following:
login as root, then goto your users home direktory and rename the .kde (.kde3.1 or how iss name is) directory (it's hidden).
Then login as normal user. KDE will then create a new profile.
