*From KDE-Look.org*

How to install a splash screen

# Open konqueror
# Create the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/pics
# Browse to ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/pics
# Move and uncompress your new splash screen file into the konqueror window
# Have fun! :-)

If you would like a Control Center module for changing splash screens try Ksplash-ml There are a few splash screens on the website too.

Thanks for the link Steve. I wonder why the developers of such applications don't submit them ot KDE? I mean, it would really benfit the project, unless it wasn't released under an open source liscense. :(

Actually this was submitted to KDE and looks to be available in KDE 3.2. None other than Mosfet himself is working on integrating it to the enviroment and making changes to the theme engine to support better themeing (including this!) So stay tuned. The problem isn't that these things are not submited to KDE-devel its just that developers make new apps faster than we get KDE versions out. :P

I did this and nothing seems to be happening? What exactly does
>Move and uncompress your new splash screen file into the konqueror window

Can I just move it there from the shell? Do I have to use konqueror? What do you mean by uncompress?

Thanks
