KDE "crashes" after changing theme

Hi!

First of all, im pretty new to Linux, so it would be nice of you to keep that in mind while posting your answer :D

My KDE 3.1.1. on Debian woody (Kernel 2.4.18-bf2.4) has a üroblem changing the themes.
If i change the theme and hit APPLY, it starts to load thins from the Harddrive. But it wont stop anymore. It goes on doing that for ever (until i stop it by logging out)

It makes working with the system basically impossible because it slows the machine down. It seems like its repeating the same process again and again.

The only way to stop it is to log out and log in again, but after doing that, all programs in KDE crash! The only way to totaly fix this is to delete the user and add the user again!

EDIT: I found out everything works fine if i use root account, its just the normal users who "crash".

Does this happen with any theme or just a particular one?
