[kopete]how to get buddy list for icq to work again

Hello,

I recently deleted some folders on kopete with general/coworkers, I moved the buddies into the general folder then. Next day my contact list displayed 0/1 offline users. I deinstalled kopete and installed it new. 0.8.1 - but it still displayes that amount of people. It should actually contain a few more and I have no idea where it might be written. I deleted the kopeterc once, but then I have the feeling it screwed a bit more.

any ideas?

Hi!

Kopete, and any other KDE application, store their settings under the ~/.kde directory.

Kopete stores the contact list, logs and some ui configuration under ~/.kde/share/apps/kopete and other configuration settings in ~/.kde/share/config/kopeterc.

If you delete these two location it should return to the default settings as if it was just installed.

Try to delete the contactlist.xml. In MSN, for example, the contacts are stored server side so kopete will re-download them.

Hi, I have done as you said, but somehow icq does not reset or at least display all of the contacts I should have on the server. I deleted the apps kopete folder and the kopeterc. It started as you said with the default settings. But when I connect to icq it does only display about 1 or 2 contacts, although I am sure that more than 20 should be online

Does kopete show all the other contacts offline or simply does not show them?
If the contacts aren't shown then there were removed from the server, right?
If it shows them offline then the icq plugin probably has a bug because if you deleted all kopete settings then there couldn't be any conflict created by custom settings.

Sorry but can't help much more.

Kopete does simply not show them,. neither online nor online. When I use my windows OS with miranda all contacts are still there.
