Heya,

I just installed the yesterdays-cvs-version (6/5/2004) and would liek to tell somethinga bout it .
I'm not yet completely familiar with the allt he stuff you can do/change

good:

*the interface has really improved!!! Not so cluttered anymore ...
*nice animation when closing a group of persons (not the most important thing, but nice ).
*jabber-functionality has improved/of more visible ... nice.
*...

could be better :

*I have a jabber account and an msn one. I'm subscribed to a jabber-msn-gateway, but it seems that teh gateway is treated as a person, so I can't sleect it to logon. I would like it if you could spcify in your options which gateway you would like to "activate" when logging into the jabber-network. and ofcourse a way to manually activate it ...

*I also had an irc-account, but I deleted it because I haven't configured my firewall to allow it yet...and I think that when I logged into my jabber account, also the icq-icon started blinking. When I deleted the icq-account, kopete crashed ...

*When I logg of, kopete reports taht all the online-users I have in my list are loggin off ... the going online-problem is solved liek you probably know , tx.

*context-menu when you click on a person. I'm having trouble with merging my identical jabber-msn and msn-accounts. I think this is the meta-contacts-stuff. In my case, meta-groups would also be handy, since jabber imports the msn-groups too. I think. I have them anyway. I tried to drop a msn-person on the identical jabber-persona dn thought they would merge, or maybe a dialog would appear, presenting me a name to enter if the (screen)names of the persons wouldn't be identical , but nothing happens. For me anyway, this is a ncie way to merge persons. I think this is also the way it is in sim. Maybe that's way I'm already accustomed to it (I didn't use sim so long ...). Not sure focourse, maybe this isn't practical for others.
The dialogs for meta-contacts are somewhat confusign..certainly when I'm asked if I want to delete a person! Maybe my ignorance..don't know. When I created a meta-contact for a person, I also didn't get the (in this cas) msn-options fot this person. Anyway I don't fidn it intuitive. If I work with it a little bitu longer, I probably get used to it.

*I saw a post for this on the feature-request list, but I also like the OSD-functionality of sim, so if anyone could enlighten me, how to get this accomplished using knotify ....? I also use OSD for kaffeine-mediaplayer and it is handy for getting some info from time to time without clicking on anything. I think it is maybe the position where the text appears taht makes it so handy; not sure..or maybe the cool effect that it rolls out and then dissapears .

maybe thisd is new stuff, not sure... I tried to customize my chat-window. I tried to add stuff to the bars, but things that didn't have an icon didn't appeared (I have the ...and text selected) and even if they had an icon, even then it is not sure if it will appear. On some bars they would appear, on others not. If possible... drag and drop like in firefox would be handy, but this isn't necessary. The current system is ncie to use too, but if I can select something to appear on the bar and I select it to appear ... it isn't nice if it doesn't appear then.

If someone does't have a picture (like in msn), it would be nice to have some text or that says ..no picture (mayeb this is already, but it doesn't happen with my version ...).

I like the integration with kaddressbook, but don't get it ..what is teh advantage of it or is some stuff planned, but not implemented maybe?
Maybe this is already present, but when you get a new user ..it would be ncie to add him to your addressbook. This is also nice as a normal option to do so that I could add some persons to my addressbook that were already in my list from previous evrsions.

I know it isn't supported by kopete ... but if someone should have interest ..or is it developpped still? The universaltoolbar-plugin for kopete is very nice, but I can't edit user-names in it and I need to start kopete first ... if kopete would start automatically ..I would be one click away from instant-messging ...

Anyway..
