[Kopete] Can't connect to Jabber through Kopete

I've been using Kopete for IM since KDE 3.2 was released, and it's great. I've always used AIM, but recently I signed up for a Jabber account, because I'm getting pretty tired of the inconsistancy I find in AIM clients. Nobody seems to send or receive the same data anymore. Registering the username worked fine (jabber.org), and it logged on fine the first two or three times, but now I can't log on. It tries to connect for a long time (5 minutes or so), and then gives me a message that says the server returned without an error, and that the server is probably broken. It returns that error immediately if I try to register a new account. It does this on every server I've tried, and I've tried every US server on the public list. I tried connecting and registering through Gaim, though, and that works perfectly every time.

I'm running KDE 3.2.1, and the Kopete version that came with it (0.8.1). I use Gentoo Linux.

Thank you very much for your time.
