Newbie Question - How do I get my pane back?

I'm brand new to Unix/FreeBSD and made the mistake of closing the message pane in KNODE. I can reopen the message as its own window, but I can't find a way to get the pane back.

Hoping it would give me a clue, I then removed the message tree pane, and found that I could not get that back either, except as its own window. Please tell me how to get those panes back. I'm using KDE 3.0.5 with KNODE 0.7.1 in FreeBSD 5.0.
