XSL document could not be parsed! Please help!

My first post! :-)
I'm using Mandrake 9.2. I've just installed kopete-0.8.0.tar.bz2.
Compiled and installed with no problems.
Created the /etc/kderc file with the following content:

[code:1]
[Directories]
prefixes=/usr/local/apps/kopete
[/code:1]

And ran kbuildsycoca.
Started kopete and configured all my accounts with no problems.
Sending messages is my problem. Each time I try to send one, it gives me the following error:

[code:1]
An internal Kopete error occurred while parsing a message:
XSL document could not be parsed!
[/code:1]

And in the console it gives me:

[code:1]
MNG error 1029: Chunk out of sequence; chunk TERM; subcode 0:0
[/code:1]

Can some please help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

From an earlier thread:

EDIT: I just figured it out by default it doesn't select a chat window appearance option....just just goto Configure->Appearance->Chat Window and select one.

This should solve your problem.

We are always willing to help with any problem here, but with the recent surge of kopete help topics we urge forum members to perform a search before posting a new topic since many of these problems have been solved before.

Thanks for the reply.
Next time I'll search before posting.

Hi!

I have the same Problem with "XML-Document could not be parsed". But the way of changing the chat windows appearance does not work.

I figured out that the problem occurs, when two or more German Umlaute (like ä,ö,ü) are sent, but only in a special combination (e.g. hällö works while hüllö doesn't work).

I've deleted my configuration files several times and changed the settings all possible ways, but my kopete does'nt work properly.

Thanks for helping me!
hubert.

After looking at the messages that cause me to get the XML document could not be parsed error.. (which strangely only affects the main chat window..if I have no open window and kopete gives me a 'bubble' to offer me the option to view the message..the message text is fine) ...I noticed that control characters and other assorted 'unusual' characters are being sent as part of Yahoo's chat formatting..I seimply asked my friends on Yahoo to turn off their extra text options such as alternating colors when chatting with me..and now everything is fine..hope this helps someone
