Kopete 0.8 w/ KDE 3.2

Yes, the moderator of the KDE-Forum.org Internet & Network board needs a little help. I just switched distros back to Slackware 9.1 and updated to KDE 3.2. Im having some trouble with the version of Kopete 0.8 that ships with kde3.2. Previously I was using kopete 0.7.5 on kde3.1.4 and was having no problems. Now with kopete .8 I cannot log into AIM and every time I try kopete crashes out. Ive nuked my entire .kde folder. I am not saving my passwords with kwallet, Im saving them insecurely in the config file since I know there are reported problems with kwallet and kopete.
I know this question has been posed, or at least mentioned, before, but it was not answered. Has anyone discovered a fix for this problem as of yet?

Perhaps it is a different problem to the other ones. Have you tried run kopete through the terminal? that will at least point you in the correct direction. Post the output, and maybe we can help some more :)

The terminal gives no output for this problem, which is quite strange. I start kopete, and click the aim icon in the status bar and select online, and it crashes while attempting to connect, the only output in the terminal is a "popup cleared!" for when the aim protocol menu was closed. Im headed to work right now, when I get home later I'll try to post some crash handler backtraces, or try to get the terminal to be slightly more verbose.
