Kopete hangs when trying to connect

With either v0.8beta2 or v0.7.4 kopete hangs (have to kill it) when trying to connect to Yahoo or MSN (the only accounts I have to try out). I'm behind a firewall and using a proxy with the proxy config script specified in KDE 3.1 proxy control module. Konquerer and mozilla can get out to the internet fine.

Any ideas? I searched but came up with none.

Thanks,
Rob

The Yahoo Messenger servers are blocking clients who can't handle the new authentication method that was unleashed on all of us on Janurary 9th. We're working on a fix, but it will take some time. If you want to monitor the progress of the fix, please follow bug 72219 for info

This bug says it repeatably asks for a password, whereas it just hangs for me...
