Download Manager

Does Konqueror have a download manager like Mozilla does? Or at least a download status indicator like MS IE does? If so, how do I turn it on? I would really like to know the status of something that is downloading & when it is done etc.

Yes, it's called kget and my konqi (KDE 3.1.4) has an icon for it in the
main toolbar (a circle (or better a round knob?) with a down arrow).
Clicking it activates a large version of the icon. You can
drag and drop URLs onto it.

As soon as kget is started it docks into the system tray (same icon).
Clicking it brings up the window with the download jobs.

Just an advise when using KGet.

If you get a message like "...bad URL" try to close KGet and start the download again. It has some problems with big strange URLs.

Ah. Found it. Thanks. Is there any way to have the Kget window open automatically when a download is started like Mozilla download manager does?. If not, might be a suggestion for the next Konqueror upgrade. Also, it certainly would be appropriate to mention Kget & file downloading in the Konqueror docs handbook.

Well my one does so I guess there must be a setting in there somewhere to integrate kget with konqueror. :D

Here it is on fourth settings tab ("advanced")

Kget is a standalone download manager with Konqueror integration not a part of Konqueror itself.

Konqueror's handbook would get a bit oversized if it contained all possible extensions, plugins and program which decide to integrate themselves :)

I think KGet was advertised in KDE3.1 release notes.
