KMail + Hotmail

Does anyone here know how to set up a Hotmail account to work with KMail, or maybe Evolution?

No for Hotmail...

I don't know about Evolution, but that will be almost impossible for Hotmail. You see, Kmail is a POP/IMAP client, to the best of my knowledge, that make use of the smtp protocol.

Since hotmail is a http protocol as opposed to smtp, you need a http client or a web browser, like Konqueror or Mozilla to view your hotmail mails.

To the best of my knowledge, the only email client that can access your hotmail account is Microsoft Outlook, which also a web browser/http client.

Again, I don't know about Evolution, but I sincerely apologize if I have confused you.

Thanks. Is that also the same for Netscape mail? I heard something about it in a Mozilla discussion.

I remember reading something about WebDAV integration for KMail ond the kmail mailinglist.

WebDAV is the HTTP based protocol Outlook uses to work with Hotmail and KDE has a WebDAV ioslave IIRC.

See if there is a feature request for it on bugs.kde.org and vote for it if you think it is important.

google 'gotmail' and you will find information of how to retrieve hotmail. google 'fetchyahoo' for the same operation.

With some tweaks, you can have all these accessible in KMAIL. linux is really cool in handling this kind of stuff.

I'm looking into gotmail now. And does anyone know how to use KMail with Netscape Mail? Supposedly, it's IMAP, but I don't know what to put in for all those setup fields.
