Proxy with KNewsTicker

I'm trying to use the Perl script that comes with KNewsticker for reading stock quotes from yahoo. I added the stock I wanted, but I keep getting N/A for the quotes. I believe this is because the script doesn't know I'm behind a proxy server (I entered the settings in control center).

For other news sources KNewsTicker is able to pass my proxy server, but not for this specific script.

How can I tell this script (in RedHat 8.0 it's found on:
/usr/share/apps/knewsticker/scripts/stock.pl)?
