KDM resolution bigger than X

Hello, here is a problem I haven't seen a solution for :

My XServer (X11.0 XOrg Foundation) sets my resolution to 1024x768 (correct),
KDE desktop (KDE 3.2.3) sets my resolution to 1024x768 (correct), however KDM (logging manager) uses 1280x1024 (virtual resolution, as X is correctly using 1024x768) . I've looked everywhere I could thing of, and have not managed to tell KDM to use 1024x768 (ie. the same as X and KDE!). It's ugly - the box is not centered, too big, and the background pixmap is stretched !

Any ideas ?
Thanx,
Anselm
