Issues with the soundserver

Ok, I have sound working, for the most part...however, no KDE programs will play sounds, because the KDE soundserver crashes whenever it is started. This means no sounds with my reminders and no opportunity to try out this wonderful new program called AmaroK! :(

Any suggestions of where to start?

Thanks

What are your settings in the KControl module for Sound and Multimedia > Sound System ??

I would select to have the audio device automatically detected, but try and play around with them.

in the file ~/.kde/share/config/knotifyrc, make sure you have the following settings:
[code:1]
[StartProgress]
Arts Init=true
KNotify Init=true
Use Arts=true
[/code:1]

Let us know how this goes
