KScreensaver not activating

The screensaver won't activate properly. After the specified activation period, the screen will stop updating and if I move the mouse or press a key, the screen will refresh. It doesn't matter what screensaver I've selected.

I'm running KDE 3.3 (but the problem also happened under 3.2.3 and 3.2.2), XOrg 6.7.0. I've got an NVidia graphics card and the latest drivers.

The screensaver wrapper that KDE has made.. well, sucks big time. Use the dialog provided with xscreensaver. For more info:

http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/faq.html#kde
-- rm -fr /etc/whitehouse
-- Gentoo | udev | Xorg 6.8.2 | 2.6.14-r4 | KDE 3.5.0

Another solution is to launch an instance of xscreensaver at KDE login. Place the file into ~/.kde/Autostart. Don't forget to chmod it 0755.
-- rm -fr /etc/whitehouse
-- Gentoo | udev | Xorg 6.8.2 | 2.6.14-r4 | KDE 3.5.0
