How do I delete a mimetype from konqueror?

Konqueror mistakenly recognizes flash .swf files as file type image/vnd.rn-realflash. So I pull up the menu
settings->configure konqueror->file associations
and under image I Remove this mimetype and click OK. Well, konqueror apparently doesn't like this idea so, without a word, it puts it right back in. I tried deleting the file
~/.kde/share/mime-lnk/image/vnd.rn-realflash.desktop
but konqueror just restores it when I try to delete that mimetype from the configuration menu. I even deleted the lines for this mimetype in /etc/mime.types and from /usr/share/mime-info/realplay.mime & realplay.keys. I also removed the file
/usr/share/mimelnk/image/vnd.rn-realflash.kdelnk

But, somehow, konqueror stubbornly refuses to give up this mimetype.

What can I do? I have to disassociate .swf files from realplayer.

Thanx,
Art.

Not able to set mime settings

Hi all

I have sort of the same problem. I'm running Mandrake 9.1 and sort of favoures mplayer and kplayer as its gui rather than xine, noatun and all of those that kde (or mandrake, i din't know) likes so much. The thing is, that when i add kplayer to handle mpg and avi-files and deletes noatun and kaboodle from the list, kde overwrites my settings, removes kplayer and reinserts noatun and kaboodle.

The same thing happens when I try to associate xmms to play mp3-files and folders in the inode-mime-settings, kde removes all traces of xmms and uses the (inferior, in my mind) noatun and kaboodle to play mp3-files and removes xmms at all from the play folder settings. this is driving me crazy, coz' i didn't have that problem with suse.

i have no solution, i am not that experienced with linux and kde yet to solve the problem for myself. any help wanted.
Nothin' here too see.

Maybe its sme distribution modification that is doing this.
Like the SuSE thing that always restores the icons on the desktop.

Solution

Yes, i figured it out. It's the package mandrake-mime that restores the mime settings every time I logs in. removing it (with --nodeps, 'cos there is much in mandrake kde depending on it, but removing it don't break anything though) makes everything fine again, with no automatic restoring of mime settings
