Hi all
I have sort of the same problem. I'm running Mandrake 9.1 and sort of favoures mplayer and kplayer as its gui rather than xine, noatun and all of those that kde (or mandrake, i din't know) likes so much. The thing is, that when i add kplayer to handle mpg and avi-files and deletes noatun and kaboodle from the list, kde overwrites my settings, removes kplayer and reinserts noatun and kaboodle.
The same thing happens when I try to associate xmms to play mp3-files and folders in the inode-mime-settings, kde removes all traces of xmms and uses the (inferior, in my mind) noatun and kaboodle to play mp3-files and removes xmms at all from the play folder settings. this is driving me crazy, coz' i didn't have that problem with suse.
i have no solution, i am not that experienced with linux and kde yet to solve the problem for myself. any help wanted.
