CD / DVD

I use mandrake 9 and have recently changed over from Gnome to KDE.

However i have noticed that with the application KsCD i am unable to hear cds which i play. I know it has nothing to do with the computer hardware cause if i use gnome i can listen to cds with GnomeCD or what eva it is called.

Also, i have a dvd rom and i can't watch dvd's using Xine. What do i have to do to be able to watch movies.

thats weird.

Try using XMMS to play the cds - this will tell you if the problem is KsCD.

alternatively try killing the arts process by pressing Ctrl-Esc.
