Trying To Run X App Before Login (SuSE)

Hi, on a SuSE installation I'm trying to have a specific application which opens up an X window and accepts user input for some specific information automatically execute after the machine boots up. This needs to happen before user login (i.e. the KDM login box), but after XWindows loads. I was able to get this working perfectly using Gnome/GDM but since I switched over to KDE/KDM I cannot get this working. The application is currently triggered by a call from /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup. The application comes up, but keyboard input is not registered - I try typing in the text fields and nothing happens. The mouse cursor looks like an hourglass too. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks...
