KDE 3.1 on Solaris 9 - cannot get working via X Emulator

I have installed KDE 3.1 on a Solaris 9 box with a dumb terminal. No matter how I try, I cannot get my Xterm emulator to bring up a KDE logon or desktop. The "kdm" process is not running anywhere.

I installed this from the Support CD from Sep '04. All pre-reqs were satisfied.

I also cannot find any documentation on how to set up the desktop management daemon on Solaris 9 - has anyone experienced this before and knows where the doc is? I know how it works on HP-UX but not Solaris.

Cheers, Fred
