I'm not sure if that is what he means. If he's seeing what I'm seeing then two third of the styles have vanished, Plastik, my favourite one for example. The window decorations are unaffected, Plastik is still there. If I were to venture a guess I'd say only the Qt built-in styles are there and the rest is gone...

It happened to me with my latest upgrade of my Debian unstable packages (to 3.2.2, I think the version number didn't even change). I'm not sure what's wrong.

@flatpooks: Are you also using Debian?

So this seems to be a Debian packaging problem.

I'm pretty new to Debian. When I'm doing an "apt-get upgrade" I see quite some packages being "held back", including some KDE packages. So I cannot tell if the bug is still present in the latest packages. I'm on KDE 3.2.2 (kdelibs4 is 3.2.2-2).

Do you have the latest version installed? If so and the bug is still there you might want to file a bug report...

Somewhat off-topic: Do you know how I can analyze what is holding back the upgrade?

Oh I'm sorry. Not for you not being a "he" that is, of course. ;-)
And thanks for taking my false and unfounded assumption with humour :)

hehe np on the s/he thing ... happens all the time
;)

i think its related to the base libs like u say but im not an expert at this either ... afaik its to do with some libs being out of step with other libs and causing a screw-up somewhere deep down in the bowels of kde ... if i find a definitive answer i'll let u know

as for what holds back the releases ... i think its the testing stages and bug discovery ... i guess the idea is its better to have a broken display style than a broken core system ... or something

thnx anyways for the help
:)
