command line controls fo KDE

I'm trying to change the background of KDE from the command line. Does any one know how to do this? I've seen references in the documentation (KDialogue docs) to there being many command line controls for KDE, but I can't find a good listing of them. It seems like I could change the "Background=" line in kdesktoprc with sed, but the changes don't take effect automaticlly.
If this is the wrong place to ask this question I appologize and would appreciate a pointer in the right direction.

Thanks,
Dave Unger[/code]

Try:
dcop kdesktop KBackgroundIface setWallpaper /absolute/path/to/image.gif 1
