Help! K-menu disappeared !

Hi ,

I'm just setting up my first linux system. Have installed kde 3.2 ( mostly ok) but just now , when doing startx , the desktop was borked with huge corrupted icons & letters scattered over the screen :!: In panic I did a dirty shutdown, & now when I go back into kde there is NO K-menu launcher on the bottom left of the desktop panel . How do I get it back ??

TIA
