KDM Login problems

Hi folks,

I'm setting up a machine here for my local community to play music.

I'm using SuSE 9.0 and upgraded the system after install to KDE 3.2, before
even doing a login. All went fine, no problems, but the day after, I did
the following:

- In Kcontrol I changed some preferences in sysadmin > loginscreen. Like a
new logo, an other background, I disabled all users (except one: 'bar') to
show on the KDM list, I enabled auto-login, etc
- After logging out of the system, KDM would not come up, so I had to under
root; 'rcxdm stop' and 'rcxdm start' and the KDE screen came up, but...
- Default background, all users (incl. all system users) , default logo,
etc ... were shown. OK no problem (I can change that later), so I log in:
- When I log in (as a normal user or root) only a xterm is shown on the left
uppercorner of the screen. Very frustrating.
- When I do as root; 'rcxdm stop' and login as the user 'bar' and type
'startkde', KDE starts without problems. So that's a great workaround, the
only major problem with this, that I can't use KDM to shutdown the system
from user 'bar'.

The system has almost the same setup as my own system. Please does someone
known an answer? The whole system is setup and must go live this weekend
(actually yesterday), but this issue must be solved first.

Cheers,

Jeroen
