Legacy console graphic characters support in Konsole

Hello!.. here is my predicament:

I want to deploy Knoppix / Mandrake workstation across my company to access our legacy inventory control application (Passport/RW32) which is accessed via telnet.

So far, everything works flawlessy, except that i get weird accented characters where line graphic characters should be on the screen, to delimit menus and different areas on the point of sale screens etc.

I've researched ad nauseam and tried the following:
* tried different fonts
* installed some fonts, but they never show up on the custom font menu
* changed $LANG to en_US
* tried tput enacs
* tried tput acs
[/list:u]

None of that seems to work.

In my research i found that it has to do with unicode or some spicy herb by a similar name :D and somebody even suggested recoding the legacy application to support unicode. That is simply out of the question in this case as i dont have access to the source code, and the vendor has made it clear that they will not support terminals with this setup.

What do i need to do? install a specific font?
if so, which font, and in what manner so it will show up on the Konsole custom font menu.

Any other solution or ideas?

I appreciate any help, as this will further the adoption of Linux on my enterprise, and i can show off to the competition the cost-effectiveness of this solutions.

Best Regards, Hector.
