Where should the X font cache TMP files reside

Running Libranet 2.8 and KDE 3.1.5, all latest updates from Libranet repositories. I have noticed latedly that literally hundreds of 0 byte files with .font.cache.TMP* names are appearing in ~/. Is this normal and if so how do I administer this growing number of named files but with no information. I do not know enough about KDE and X to know what is considered to be normal behavior for X and its files and temp files and its interaction with KDE. :oops:

Any and all advice is appreciated.
