KHelpCenter 3.1??

Hi,
I've compiled and installed KDE 3.1.4 (using the Konstruct system), and everything's working fine. Except for the Help center. Whenever I try to display any topic other than the info and man pages, all I get is an error message like this --

An error occured while loading help:/khelpcenter/index.html
Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'help'

Has anyone exeperienced this before? My distro is Debian, and yes I could have used the .deb packages, but I wanted to compile from the sources.

I checked the kdebase souces, by the way, and discovered that indeed there is no protocol named 'help' under 'kioslave', though there are many others like http, ftp, smb, etc. Can any1 help me out?
