KDE 3.2beta1 won't start

I just built KDE3.2b1 from CVS, and when I do a typical loadup into KDM I get the login screen, but attempting to open a window manager just brings me right back tot he login screen. If I type in startx I can get into KDE, however KDM still won't load up anything via the X server. Here's the message I get when I just type kde:

xset: unable to open display ""
xsetroot: unable to open display ""
startkde: KDE starting...
ksplash: Cannot connect to X server
kdeinit: Aborting. $DISPLAY not set
warning: Connect ()failed: : no such file or directory
ksmserver: Cannot connect to X server
startkde: Shutting down...
Error: Can't contact kdeinit!

The $DISPLAY line peaks my interest...

I also get a similar message when I try and start blackbox.

Also, when I run KDE by typing start X I have no kicker. This is the error message I get in the konsole when I try to start it up manually:

kicker: relocation error: /opt/kde3/lib/libkdeinit_kicker.so: undefined symbol: _ZN10KPopupMenu15mousePressEventEP11QMouseEvent

Any ideas?
